No Longer Under a Tutor

As part of our salvation, we have been given a renewed mind (Romans 12:2), one that is not corrupted by our sin nature. This is a mind that can understand the things of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:14-16). Therefore, we walk by the Spirit, not by law or the flesh (Galatians 5:16, 25). The Spirit is the one teaching us how to properly abide in Christ (1 John 2:27) and therefore live a life that shows a proper opinion of God through our actions, not words. We are not adopted children, we are legitimate children and should act as such in the midst of a corrupt and perverted generation, training our sensed to know what is proper and what is wrong so that our live are a luminary to those around us.

The Inarticulate Babbler – No Longer Tossed Around

And on the one hand God gave the apostles, and on the other hand the prophets, and the evangelist, and the pastors even teachers, towards the equipping of the saints unto a work of service, unto a building up of the body of the Christ, until we all arrive at a oneness of the faith and the full experiential knowledge of the Son of God, unto a mature man, unto a measure of maturity of the fulness of the Christ, in order that we are no longer inarticulate babblers, tossed around and carried about by every wind of teaching by the craftiness of men in cunning scheming of deceit, but while speaking the truth in love growing up unto Him in all things, Who is the head, Christ – Ephesians 4:11-15.

Nepios (νήπιος), is a word that describes a stage in life when we are under governors and tutors while being trained and brought to maturity. The importance of a good education and the integrity of those teaching is very important for the proper growth and maturity of a student. When the teachers fail to speak the truth, and do not hold the students accountable, maturity is never reached.

…always learning and never coming unto a full experiential knowledge of the truth – 2 Timothy 3:7

This is true in secular and religious settings. Today our government schools are intentionally based upon ideology and propaganda that teaches contrary to the truth and causes a lot of young people to be very confused about history, who they are, and basic truths in life. This same type of atmosphere is present in many large and well-known assemblies claiming to be Christians today. In the book of Revelation seven periods of […]

Not Adopted, Real Children Placed as Sons

having marked off our bounds to the placement of sons (υἱοθεσία) through Jesus Christ unto Himself according to the good pleasure of His desirous will – Ephesians 1:5.

Did you know that the Greek words for “adoption” never occur in Scripture? “ἄμφανσις”, which means, “adoption” and “ἐκποίητος”, which is “to give in adoption” are not used in Scripture because we are not adopted into God’s family; rather, we become legitimate children of God.

Beloved now we are the children (born ones) of God… 1 John 3:2. His seed has been placed into us (1 John 3:9) and we are now born again, not from a corruptible seed (1 Peter 1:23).

In Ephesians 1:5, Paul is not writing about adoption, but about son placement. This is a concept in the Roman culture concerning when a child is no longer under governors and tutors (Galatians 4:1). When the father determines the child is trained properly, the child would be placed as a son, into a place of privilege where the child (inarticulate babbler) is no longer under governors and tutors (Galatians 4:2). When it comes to humans and God, those who are inarticulate babblers are under law, but those who are sons live out from faith.

When I was an inarticulate babbler (child), I spoke as an inarticulate babbler (child), I framed the mind as an inarticulate babbler (child), I reasoned as an inarticulate babbler (child). When I became a man, I rendered ineffective the things of the inarticulate babbler (child), 1 Corinthians 13:11.

As children (born ones) of God, let us walk in the light (Ephesians 5:8). As sons, let us exercise our senses to know what is proper and what is wrong in our conduct (Hebrews 5:14) and live out […]

Placed as Sons

The Placement of Sonship

Under Law Until the Time Appointed by the Father, Galatians 4:1, 2

Held in bondage to the elementary things of the world system, Galatians 4:3

God Sent His Son to Redeem those under Law, Galatians 4:4-7

Galatians 4:1-7

4.1 But I say upon as much time as the heir is an inarticulate babbler, he differs nothing from a slave, being lord of all, 4.2 but is under guardians and tutors, up until the time limit set by the father. 4.3 Thus we also, when we were inarticulate babblers, we being slaves were under the elementary principles of the world system. 4.4 But when the fullness of time came, God sent forth His Son, being born out from a woman, born under law, 4.5 in order that he should redeem the ones under the law, in order that we should receive the placement of sons. 4.6 And because we are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying “Abba, the Father”. 4.7 Therefore we are no longer slaves but sons, and since sons, also we are heirs of God through Christ.

The Purpose of the Law

The Law did not negate the promise

The Purpose of the Law, Galatians 3:19-23

Law Serves as a Child Trainer until Christ, Galatians 3:24-39

Law Does not Allow Maturity, Galatians 4:1

Galatians 3:19 – 4:2

3.19 Therefore, why the Law? It was added in favor of the transgressions, up until which the seed should come, who was promised, having been directed through messengers by the hand of a mediator. 3.20 And the mediator is not of one, but God is one. 3.21 Therefore is the Law against the promise from God? May it never come to be! For if, for the sake of argument, Law has been given the natural ability to make alive, in fact, righteousness would be out from the law. 3.22 But Scripture closed up all under sin, in order that the promise out from faith concerning Jesus Christ should be given to the ones who believe. 3.23 However, before the faith came, we were being guarded under the Law, after being closed up, because of the about to be revealed faith. 3.24 Wherefore, the Law is in a state of having become a child guardian concerning us into Christ, in order that out from faith we should be justified. 3.25 And the faith having come, we are no longer under a child guardian. 3.26 For we are all sons belonging […]
